“A repeater centre is an institution catering specifically for learners that failed Grade 12 or who wish to better their marks for a specific subject. Repeater Centres are also sometimes referred to as “matric rewrite centres” where candidates can “upgrade” their matric.”

Requirements
In order to rewrite matric, you need to have attempted the subject you would like to register to repeat.
